Should the workers have state licenses also? Contractor is using a different roofing company license but I’m worried they won’t actually be from the roofing company he gave me the license for. He also said they give a 10 year guarantee for the work but when asked again he said not the roofing company but his company. His company has only been around for a year. I feel like it’s like bait & switch.
I asked for a breakdown of everything and still have nothing & work is supposed to start in 48 hours. No calls no nothing. Very concerned
The contractor should have his own license number. Under no circumstances should another companies license number be used to contract work . It is very illegal if this is the case and with that being said I would report him to your state license board and find another contractor that can provide you with proof of a license number, workers comp and insurance. Do not be fooled
Yes, unfortunately there are lots of Storming Contractors or just fly by night local companies that buy-in to other companies in order to operate/sale in our area. This is a way for them to enable their sales team in other areas. It’s crooked and dishonest, but it happens year after year.
All states and circumstances would allow for many answers, I would contact your local building department and aske a few question’s to get the right answer.
Check with your specific state credentialing board… Many States allow Sub Contractors to do work under Under the General Contractors licenses, and Insurance Guidelines… I Personally do Alot of Sub Contract work, and work of my own… I have all of my own Licenses, Credentials, and Insurance on my business, and use it for ALL jobsites I am on… Even if I am Covered by the General Contractor… Any Responsibile and Legitimate Company is REQUIRED by State, and Federal Law to have a certain amount of Insurance… Each Trade, Credential, and License requires different amts of Insurance… Check with your local, and state govt to find out about the amount REQUIRED by Law for your specific job needs…
