Can I change the color of my bathroom tile grout?

The grout in our bathroom is a strange beige color that doesn’t work with the tile. How can I change it to a different color without removing all the tile? Can I just add a thin layer of new grout to the top?

In most cases, yes you can. You need a grout file, which you can get at most home improvement stores. Use this to take out the grout then clean tiles and grout lines with a damp sponge.

You can install new grout, but it would require removing some of the existing grout which is very tedious and can result in damage to the surrounding tiles. Another alternative is to try and dye the grout. There are special products that are designed to renew or change the color while resealing it. This approach may be worth researching before you attempt to install new grout.

Yes, although it can be quite time consuming to remove the existing grout, once done there are many grout colors to choose from.
