Yes, you can powerwash a shingled roof, but you’d want to take caution. Taking your time on a low pressure is the best way to go about it.
I would advise against a true power wash on your roof. The degranulization effect the power washer will have would do more bad then good. If you dropped paint or stain on the shingles themselves, I would call a local roofer for a repair. You shouldn’t have to pay more than $150.00 for an area smaller than 5’ x 5’.
I would’t suggest to power wash a shingle roof. The shingles are nailed on the plywood and in case its old, you will destroy it.
I wouldn’t suggest power washing as well. This could cause an amount of granular loss which weakens the reliability of your roof.
Power washing a roof can cause damage. If you are doing this for the first time I would advice against it. Shingle manufacturers recommend a soft wash, which is a method of cleaning shingles with out using pressure.
Hi there,
You shouldn’t powerwash a shingle roof. It will cause damage to the shingles. If you need to, always use low pressure washing to clean a shingle roof. High pressure will damage the durability of the shingles/ garnules.
I would not suggest power washing a shingled roof because it will remove granular coating and it will definitely have a very negative effect on the roof.
It’s not recommended. You have to be careful that you do not wash away the granules on the shingles. You should hire a professional to have your roof cleaned.
You can do it if it is extremely necessary but I do not recommend it. If you do, you should make sure that it does not void your warranty with the shingle manufacturer. I would call the manufacturer before doing anything.
Yes you can. In fact, You can pressure was almost any type of roof. Be sure to tie off with an osha approved harness and use all safety precautions required. Never get on a roof alone.
I would not suggest powerwashing your shingle roof. If you are having concerns about roofing conditions please contact a licensed roofer. Powerwashing the siding of your house and deck surfaces normally would be fine.
Great question Im glad you asked! This is a question that I get quite often when Im out on the field. The short answer is no. But to elaborate about cleaning your roof membrane (comp shingles) My advice would be to use a product called spray and forget. You can do it yourself if your comfortable getting on a roof. All you need is a pump sprayer, water and the product called spray and forget. Its a no rinse environmentally safe concentrate that removes stains caused by mold, mildew and algae. YES No Rinsing let the elements handle that.
