I’m hoping to frame, drywall and insulate a new bedroom in my basement (10x12). What’s the first step with getting started with a contractor? Could someone give me a generalized cost breakdown so I know what I’m looking at when reviewing bids?

The cost can vary tremendously and will depend on the size and how you want to do it! You can get a contractor to do estimates on every step needed.

What Does the Local Building Code Require?
Bedrooms typically require a closet with a pull-chain light.
Typically, you’ll need at least 7’ from ground-to-ceiling.
Also, you may need to add an egress window.

- Frame for bedroom and closet
