I have a small basement (under 900sq ft) with multiple rooms, half of which is finished. I’ve had flooding and a basement tech company will be waterproofing. In order for them to waterproof and put in the drainage system they need some of the finished areas to come down around the perimeter. I have 2 walls, both of which are about 15 feet across that need to come down, 4 feet off another wall, and a doorway removed. Also a large built in metal work bench needs to be scrapped. I’ve contacted 3 contractors, one of which never got back to me with an estimate after 2 weeks. The other 2 contractors are varying widely in price. One is quoting $1100, the other over $4000! 4K seems outrageous for a small demo. These guys are all general contractors, but I’ve found a couple demo contractors in my area that I will reach out to this week as well. Round about how much should a small project like this cost?
It’s hard to answer this question without visiting the site. Even with your great measurements, other factors like mold, electrical wiring, plumbing, and other factors can impact the bid. Requests a detailed line item bid so you can be sure you are comparing apples to apples.
