Most of our basements range from $125,000 to $250,000 in homes of $750,000 and up. We’ve had a few basements top out above $500,000. Just competed one in eight weeks for just under $200,000. It also included an outdoor as well with a pool, massive deck and stone walls. The whole terrace level buildout inside and out was just under $400,000.
I just finished finished 2 basements with the features you described. Along with the size of the basement, the main driver of the cost is the structural involvement of the project (do you need to underpin the foundations?) and the alterations you’ll be making to the existing system.
One basement cost $80,000 (with underpinning), the other $45,000.
They both received a new laundry area, bathroom and family room. No significant mechanical changes were performed.
You need to give more information with your question so you can get a working cost estimate. As you can see above, you got 3 different estimates from 3 different contractors that varied in price from $25,000.00 to $200,000.00 never mind the $400K price. You need to provide rough size to the basement, size of bathroom, location of plumbing going out / underground. Wall & floor conditions, stone & dirt vs. concrete. Wet vs. dry. All this information will help you and save you changes later on.
Best if you have Architectural drawings and finish specifications.
