We agree. Take the safest approach and hire a licensed contractor. In PA, you can go to the PA Attorney General’s website (there is a link here on BuildZoom) to check to see if they have kept their license up to date.
With licensure, the public has a method to report and to track issues with dishonest or problem contractors. These licenses can be suspended or pulled by the PA Attorney General. Needless to say, avoid anyone with a suspended or expired license!
