I live in a community with a fairly strict HOA, and I want to remodel parts of my home. Are there any particular considerations I should factor in when selecting a contractor?
I would look for a contractor that is already approved or done work within your HOA. If you want another contractor, they should meet with the HOA board and present plans for the remodel and be prepared to discuss how their work and processes will comply with the HOA requirements. I’ve done this several times and meeting up front provides information to everyone so there’s no surprises. It also helps to get the word out to your community about planned work and people are much more accepting of it when they know in advance.
