A few years ago, I had solar installed on a fairly new roof. Recently, we discovered roof rot. roofer said the solar was not properly installed and that he could repair the solar and the roof, however the solar pannels had to be removed and re-installed by the solar installer. Both are licensed . How do i deal with this?
I’d check to see what kind of insurance coverage they have and then seek out legal counsel
How old is the roof, was there bad conditions with the roof sheathing and was not corected then ?? Did the solar installer do the proper instalation or not, was the work done inspected by the local building department, or no permits taken. Some one did not do the proper instalation for the wood to rot. Roofers do not install solar panels, they might set the frames in place to make sure it is secured & flashed properly, but not the panels. If you have there contracts, review them with your lawyer and take his advice.
