Our living room has no overhead lighting. How do I know how many recessed lights to add? Is there a formula based on square footage?
Depending on your ceiling height and level (vaulted / flat), a recessed LED light should cover between 6’X6’ to 8’X8’.
It’s always good to have more lights and place them on a dimmer - you never know how bright you may want it.
Also - if the room is big and takes a lot of lights - sometimes its better to split them in 1/2 and have a separate control for each 1/2. This will have to do with the shape and layout of the room.
You should consult with an electrician.
