How do I know if I need a roof turbine?

Starting to prepare to replace our roof. Should we add a roof turbine? When does it matter?

Attic ventilation is extremely important. The amount of ventilation directly effects the life of the roof. Different vents are used for different applications. A turbine might not be the correct solution for your application. Our advice is to have a licensed contractor come out to inspect your home. After looking at it a determination can be made.

I personally never recommend turbine vents on houses. I recommend Dormer vents for residential applications and/or Ridge vents (several brands available). My reason for not using turbines: moisture can get through more easily in wind driven rain etc. But, none of these vents do much good if you do not have proper soffit ventilation. Soffits at the eaves work with the roof top vents as the hot Air/moisture etc. escapes through the top, cooler drier air is drawn in through the Soffits at the eaves.
The reason it matters is because without proper ventilation of attic space the heat and moisture can do a lot of damage to your rafters, and roof deck, and shorten the life of your roof.
