We patched some small holes and dents in our walls, but they clearly don’t match the surrounding areas, which have a slight texture. How can we match the texture?
Because not all walls have the same texture, first you need to find out what kind of texture you have. The most common is knock down texture. For small repairs you can buy a can of spray texture. I always start by setting the adjustable nozzle to the fine setting. Then I increment the setting until I get a close match. It’s always good to practice on a piece of cardboard or a piece of drywall. After applying the texture wait for the specified time recommended by manufacturer before knocking down, or you can sand it once it has dried. Always remember to apply primer before painting. Not doing so will make patch more noticeable once paint has dried.
It’s really hard to match drywall exactly. There are a lot of variables.
