It’s best to get a professional to handle popcorn ceiling removal. In many cases there is hidden asbestos in popcorn ceiling.
Popcorn ceiling is actually very easy to remove. Cover flooring and walls with protective plastic. Use a standard garden-weed sprayer filled with water and soak the ceiling. When it is still wet, use a metal, long handled taping trowel and scrape it off onto the plastic over the floor. There are asbestos warnings with popcorn ceiling when it is disturbed while dry, but wetting eliminates that issue.
