I’m looking for some advice on repairing a crack in a concrete driveway.
The best way is to rip it all out and use asphalt insted concrete requires rebar and will just rebreak where asphalt u can apply sealant or repair kit designed for asphalt
First of all you need to understand the basics of concrete applications to address this problem. It is a given concrete does two things it gets hard & cracks. Therefore you need to have have it designed properly. Substrate compacted to 95% density, rebar at proper intervals, Rebar or welded wire mesh (this dosent stop cracking it only keeps concrete from seperating and level at the crack joint if one appears) exspansion joints, and finally control joints which is adesign for the potential crack to follow. So if these things are done the craking should be minimal if at all. Removing & relpacing the crack area is an option that would be exspensive and remember a patch is a patch and always will be. The best alternative is to work with what you got and make it more attractive to boot. Decrative concrete is the way to go, no future maintanence and will hide minor cracks. see examples here, www.seamcosurfaces .com/pho_flo.htm… asphalt does require maintenence and in a residential setting is not very desirable. Good Luck
what is the size of the crack? what is the condition of the concrete surface, there are several options when repairing a crack if the concrete driveway is in good shape overall, I’ve tried 2 part epoxy with good results. however if no other coating is to be applied will always be noticeable, thats why we recommend to apply a concrete coating after the repair and is not expensive, but you need to know about specialty concrete coatings and the surface will look brand new.
