How do plumbers unclog drains?

More plumbing issues for my cabin! What’s the best way to unclog a drain? We’re pretty remote and the fees for a site visit from a plumber are steep.

If it matters, we’re on a septic system.

We typically use a snake machine that sends a cable down your pipe and pierces a hole through whatever is blocking the pipe up. Alternatively we also use a hydro jetting machine that uses high pressured water to clear the blockage. Most clogged drains are caused by some sort of soft blockage, and usually takes an hour or so to thoroughly clear the line.
