How does one choose between contractors for there next project?

Is it price, references, or how they introduce themselves

I’d say find a guy you can talk to. Some one who you can get along well with. Knowledgeable in the areas of your project. Possibly a company you would use in future projects or tell your neighbors.

Hi,

We think all of the above are just as important. The price should be something you can afford; also their price should be inline with their competitor. If their price is way off the rest, that means something is wrong somewhere.

References also play a big part of our business. We strongly recommend our clients to write about their experiences with us because we know our business hugely depends on it in today’s social media market.

Thirdly, the way they introduce themselves; the way they explain their estimate. See if they pay attention to detail and how long it takes them to reply to your phone calls and emails. Lastly, follow your gut feeling.

I think the right contractor for your project is someone you can have a casual but professional conversation with. Someone that has excellent knowledge about the particular phase of your project you want their help with. Most importantly a contractor that is licensed, bonded and insured.

You should choose a contractor based on location, referrals if possible and your basic comfort level. Do try to avoid bargain shopping as people offering cheap prices are most likely using cheap materials.
