How long does a new foundation need to settle propertly?

Related to recommendations by @goldenretrofit @isam in a separate question

Concrete requires time to harden & cure before the loads of the walls and floors are constructed. 30 to 60 days.
Depends on concrete strength with or without additives, application, weather conditions. Cold states vs. Hot.
Damp proofing, water proofing, insulation & foundation drain work can be done while waiting. Cannot Back Fill.

what type of work can be done while the concrete is curing? it sounds like nothing with floors or walls should be done during the curing stage. @supremeremodeling

The foundation should be “settled” as soon as the concrete is cured. Usually about 30-45 Days.

thanks for the info! @benjamind what sort of limitations or restrictions are there on what can be done won the foundation during this period?

The proper curing time and process is vital for the construction of the home. While full strength does not occur for 28 to 60 days, depending on the conditions.

Hi
As we mentioned, you can do work out side & inside the foundation, but not on top of the foundations. Do Not backfill around the foundation, pressure from the fill will bow the walls and cause cracks for water to seep through.
