I am about to replace the ceramics including sink, toilet and bath in my bathroom, and was wondering what is the average lifespan of this kind of work? And if I redo the tiles, will these last as long as/longer than the ceramics?
Most bathrooms will last a lifetime depending on the quality of the craftsmanship. Minor maintance of a clogged drain or an o ring, or maybe some caulk here or there, over an extended length of time is expected. Most of the time, when homeowners decide to remodel their bathrooms, it is due to open outdated look. They are looking to update the look so therefore it will increase the value of their home. As a general rule, look to spend about 12-15% of the homes value when you are doing a bathroom remodel.

many times it depends on the construction of the same, understanding the environment will define its life cycle. water Humidity, etc… these are elements know to be destructive and cause health problems as well…
so the better you build the bathroom the longer it will last…, wall sealing floors, wall edges, underlayment, fiber cement backboards are mold resistance, shower make sure lining are installed correctly and that no holes exist, painting, sealing all opening to prevent water intrusion, exhaust fan ventilation will play an important roll during shower and allowing the exhaust fan to run at least 10-15 min after each shower a there are switches meant to work this way with a timer making it easier for end user.
other than that you personal care and quality of material and fixtures
Thank you
Replacing ceramic sink toilet and bath in my opinion will last a very long time depending on the level and amount of usage, a toilet usually will last forever, it is not the ceramic or porcelain that goes bad but usually the inner workings have to be replaced, same with sink and tub, the faucets may start to corrode or tarnish and need to be replaced.
As for the tile, if they were applied with the proper thinset and applied on a Hardibacker or something compatible, properly grouted and sealed, you should have no problems…
