How many people have used the Tesla Powerwall battery application in conjunction with solar panels and if so what is their experience?

Since Tesla came out last year with the Powerwall (and it is my ambition to install something like this in the future), I would like to hear the pro’s and con’s of this system?

Hi there,
When Tesla rolled out the Powerwall 1.0, a lot of people jumped on the waiting list to get it installed. Virtually none of the Powerwall 1.0’s were installed before Tesla came out with the Powerwall 2.0. It holds double the energy, and installation is fairly simple with built in inverters. It’s reliable during a power outage and is a great addition to solar.
Solaire is a certified Tesla installer and we would be happy to come out and give you a quote if you are interested in getting one installed. There are currently rebates in the San Diego area for powerwall installations.

Battery backup systems are becoming increasing popular in conjunction with solar. Many people find that battery systems help them control more of their energy and extend usage when the grid goes down. There are a variety of options available, not just the Powerwall.

Solaire’s answer is spot on.

In the months since, Telsa has made further announcements about the Powerwall 2. Starting in Australia, which is considered to be one of the most mature solar storage markets in the world, Telsa made it clear that it was transitioning from DC coupled to AC coupled PowerWall 2 systems. The built-in inverter allows for simpler retrofitting with existing systems.

Currently, the major investor-owned utilities (IOUs) in CA are offering incentives through the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP). Applications open this month and are due May 1.
