I’m thinking of opening up my kitchen/living room by removing a non load bearing wall that’s 12 feet long. How much would it cost to and how long would it take?
If there is no electrical and no plumbing in the wall labor cost is around 1550 to remove it, add Sheetrock and tape and texture to match existing. Go through a company with profit and overhead your total job would be 1800-2000
If theirs no electrical involved around 1250.00
If electrical has to be re-routed and permitted add at least 750.00
A non bearing wall Normally cost to remove and patch drywall and paint $1200-1500.
Assuming the wall is 8’ high made of wood frame and drywall and there is no cabinets or any wall mounted items on it, followings are the steps,
1- If the building is built prior to 1980, the owner needs to hire an inspection company to test the Asbestos & Lead. Law requires an Asbestos abatement company to remove the Asbestos if the area of demo is more than 100 sf.
2- if there is no Asbestos, General Contractor can do the demo.
3- Insurance - GC to add the homeowner as additional insured to its general liability insurance. $50
4- Protection- GC to protect the floor and install plastic sheet curtains around the demo area to prevent dust and protect the existing finishes against any damage. Also, cover the AC registers to prevent AC unit suck the dust. $350
5- Safety - GC to safe off Electric wires, Water and Gas Plumbings on the wall. $450
6- Demolition - Labor cost to demo the wall. $700
7- Cleaning and Hauling away the debris- GC to dump the debris in an authorized landfill. Cost of delivery and dump fee. $500
8- Overhead & Profit - 20% of total cost $2050 = $2460
9- Permit fee - depend on the city.
So, It will cost about $2,500 if you hire Licensed professional GC. Not to mention that most of homeowners prefer to hire an unlicensed handyman and get it done as cheep as $800 !!
Too many variables to price without seeing
Wall finish floor finish wall height ceiling finish length of adjacent walls to patch and paint or wall paper etc so on and so forth
800 to 15000?
The average costs to remove a non-bearing wall will very in costs due to the amount of unforeseen items such as:
Electrical
Mechanical
Plumbing
For the carpentry work and drywall work the costs could range from $1,800-$2,500

I would be more than happy to answer this question, a few additional things to consider when removing interior non structural walls, in addition to needing the length of the wall we would also need the wall height, Also if there is any electrical outlets or switches or wiring in the wall that we would have to move or relocate or terminate as well as any plumbing. It is typically best practice to look at the project in person or have descriptive pictures to help better determine a more precise course of action and costs associated with removing entire walls I hope this helps
Yes I can answer that question, although price may vary depending on work connecting to non load bearing wall removal for sample, rerouting electrical or plumbing, repairing finished floor at area where wall is removed, match wall texture and painting, moulding reconnection, etc.
The price can range from $1,600 up to $4,000 including some of the work mentioned above, floor repair, wall repair, etc
These cost’s are predicated on previously completed projects. The budget prices for your project may be lower or higher depending on size, specifications and individual circumstances at your property
remove existing drywall $350.00
install temporary supports $800.00
remove existing bearing wall $450.00
cut framing, install new 12’ beam $1,225.00
instal new drywall & finish $1,175.00
cut floor & install new concrete footings if necessary $2,100.00
Total for bearing wall removal for this particular project came out to $6,100. Again, can be more or less depending on your situation.
Remove anything attached to the wall such as cabinets or shelving. Remove baseboard. Remove drywall after cutting the taped joints at wall-to-wall and wall-to-ceiling first to minimize damage to adjoining drywall. Remove studs using a hammer, pry bar, reciprocating saw or grinder with a metal cutoff blade to cut nails. Remove top and bottom 2"“x 4"” plates, cutting where necessary. Add wood blocking to ceiling framing and walls to allow for new drywall attachment. Fill in voids with new drywall, taped and finished with joint compound. Install baseboard where necessary. Prime and paint new work.
Cost: $800-1000.
To get a better answer you need to provide more info.
Any plumbing or electrical wires that in this wall?
You want to know price only for demolition or to put it back together with flooring and drywall patching?
So demolition and haul away debris in Los Angeles will cost you around $1,200-$1,700.
If you need electrician or plumber you looking at service call price on each of them, drywall patching and paint will take around the $500-$700 depends how big is the area.
