How much does it cost to replace the main electrical panel and breakers on my home?

I was wondering how much it should cost to replace the main 200A electrical panel and breakers at my home. the existing panel is burned on the inside and an electrician recommended that it be replaced.

That would depend greatly on size of panel, ie 200 amp for instance, the age of house, meaning will all wiring have to be upgraded throughout home to be up to code, and will any additional electrical loads be included.

My point, is every job is different and it would be in accurate to blurt out some number.

Average cost is from $1500-$5000 depending on the circumstances. A quick easy swap should take around 8 hours and a more complicated service change could take up from 10 hours to a few days.

Costs vary from one place to another around the country, and state. The cost of doing business is different, and so what you pay will be different. The best thing to do is to have 3 estimates done by reputable contractors in your area. You are buying from your market, so you should find out what your market offers. In my area, it runs from $1000 to $2000 range, depending on different variables effecting the work, or expense of different types of equipment. You may also find that something was installed incorrectly in the past, and needs to be corrected.

200 Amp single phase upgrade would be around $2000 and a 200 Amp 3 phase would be around $3500.
