I have a small bathroom and a bedroom that’s about 200 sq ft. How much paint do I need to buy to cover all of the walls and doors?
How tall are the walls and how many doors do you have. Also how many windows do you have in these rooms you will need to subtract those from the equation.
Each manufacturer will have a specification for the coverage of their paint. And there are variables of the surface itself that will affect the coverage rate. Several factors are whether it is drywall, brick, wood, or some other material. Also consider if the existing paint on the wall is the same color as the one desired or different. Assuming it is an existing room with drywall and the walls and trim are painted we typically use 1 gallon per 400sf of wall area per coat. The trim and doors will be trickier to figure. You also need to be sure if the trim and doors are latex or oil based. You don’t want to use latex over oil based paint. For a room that size I would imagine 1 gallon should be more than enough for the trim and door. You may need as much as 2 gallons of wall paint depending on the variables mentioned above.
