Per my other questions, I’m planning a big reno and am trying to work out timing.
If I start doing initial consults immediately, how long should I expect it to take to make a hiring decision, order materials, and start work?
How much time should I expect between an initial consult and starting work for a remodeling project?
In San Francisco, if you have the plans and the permit, 2 weeks.
If it is a bathroom and kitchen remodeling, we could start right away.
If you do not have plans and it is all design build, plan on 4 weeks.
Bids with plans will take longer, especially, if they have not been approved.
The days of a contractor writing up a bid, on site and handing it to you are in yesteryear. Particularly if it is a major renovation. Even with plans it may take up to six months or more for a permit in San Francisco.
