Our fence fell over in a storm, and we need to replace it.
If we go with the cheapest or most standard lumber/fence styles, how much should we expect to pay to replace it?
Hi - Depending on your area, the cost of wood and whether removal of old fence and clean-up is needed, it could range from $2000-5000.
Here is a link to HomeAdvisor.com’s cost calculator. I entered 94114 as the zip code, for more accurate info you can change the zip code so it is specific to your area.
12 feet high?
Can not do that height in most jurisdictions.
It’s a great question.
In the state of California, the code says: "The maximum height for a front yard fence is three feet six inches (3’-6”) or forty-two inches (42”) and for the rear or side yard fence, the maximum height is eight feet (8’). A building permit is required for fences over six feet (6’). Now there is an exception. In case it’s a hillside or just for privacy, there is a chance to get a special approval from the city or the county where you belong.
There are three type of fencing
A. Vinyl fence - made of pure vinyl, comes in few colors. The benefit of this material is you never need to paint the fence, you never need to worry about termites and you never need to worry about any maintenance. Pure vinyl does not change color with a years or start to yellow. $35-$54 per sq ft, depending on the height and the style.
Wood Fence - $20-$30 per sq ft, depending on material and height.
Iron Fence - $40-$60 per sq ft, depending on styling and height.
Good luck
We can do this project, depending on city code and permit requirements, Including the cost of the type of wood and demo and haul away of old fence, yard clean up etc… it could range from $3500-8000.
Wood Fence - $60-$95 per ln ft, depending on wood material and height.
Iron Fence - $80-$145 per ln ft, depending on styling and height.
