How much to move an electrical panel down 1 floor if the wires are already in place?

Our apartment’s electrical panel is in a kitchen cabinet, which isn’t to code.

The city building inspectors suggested we move the panel down to the garage, which is below the kitchen, where there won’t be obstruction issues. They said this should be easy and less expensive than standard panel moves because there are already wires running up the walls at that point to connect the panel box to the main breakers.

How much should this type of work cost?

Your best bet is to contact at least 3 licensed electrical contractors. Prices can vary significantly throughout the country. This will give a better idea of the cost.

In the range of $3000 to $4000 depending on how much work is needed.

This would depend on a number of factors. Your best bet would be to have a licensed, insured and qualified electrician come out, examine your apartment and give you an estimate.
