I need help with installing laminate flooring, but I’m not sure when I would like to start. The project is in Elk Grove, CA. The area to be covered is 420 sq ft. It’s actually two rooms. How much should I expect this to cost?

you can expect basic click installation to begin at $2.50 a square foot + applicable taxes.
Possible additional expenses could include:
furniture moving
interior doors being removed and reset
removal of old flooring/flooring materials(i.e carpet,carpet tack strips,tile)
sub-floor damage/unlevel
ease of access to and from flooring materials and work area
So to keep installation cost down. Make sure the sub-floor meets the flooring materials guidelines for proper installation(can be found on product sheet in lam wood package). Make sure all obstacles are cleared prior to installation.
Most skilled installers will prefer to visit your home, most times at no cost and go over the best flooring layout and calculate for material waste. (I can not count how many times doing this has meant the job being completed, thus saving me and homeowner time and $$$!) The basic cost should be same as Home Depot’s but the most important part for this type of flooring is to have a sub-floor or concrete surface as strait as possible or the joints will open and squeak. The prep. work will drive the cost. Never install in wet area, one spill and floor swelsl or edges buckle.
