How to pick paint colors?

7 Tips for Choosing a Paint Color

Always test the color in the room it’s intended for with the lights on if available, reason is because colors almost always look different in different lighting. That being said I tend to recommend neutral hues and tones say for the bathroom because you can simply change the towel colors and create a hole new look. More earthy tones for living room and bedroom because they seem timeless not fads or trendy. Ultimately it’s the homeowners eye that needs to be pleased and it really does depend on the decor of the room in question

Ask your contractor to put up samples, the color chip from the paint suppliers ALWAYS looks different on a large scale. Look at the paint samples during different times of day, the change in lighting effects the color tone.

  1. Lighting and Size for each room plays a big roll in how the color is going to turn out. For less lite, smaller rooms you should go with light colors. The well lite, bigger rooms any color will be fine.

  2. Either the home owner or contractor put a 2x2 Ft sample on the wall. As many times as it takes to get the right color.

  3. Look at the samples at different times of the day. Morning, Afternoon, Evening. Different lighting will make the color look different shades.
