I would love to hear some first hand stories about how quartz compares to granite counters.

I had Granite counters in my old home i used to live in. One time i left a hot cup of tea on the counter and i took it off after 5 minutes and there was a brown ring left on it and after that i could nopt wash it off or anything.

Since i work for a floor store we sell countertops too. I know alot about quartz and granite. Yes granite is cheaper to purchase and install but in the long run granite will cost you more because you will have to reseal every year or every half year. Plus theres always a chance that it will stain because granite has millions of little pores in the stone thats why it stains. water or juice or food or whatever gets inside of the pores and you cant get it out.

Quartz on the other hand has no pores and it doesnt stain. Plus its one of the hardest materials on earth. Once you install it its done, you dont have to take care of it.

So thats my view. Thank you

I love Quartz. I did install both and 99% prefer quartz: color is the same (because of its synthetic top), stain resistant, maintenance free. On the other side, granite is porous, coffee and juices do not wipe out quick and may sink through. Because granite is natural stone, you may not receive the same color or the swirl design due to the cut or batch where is coming from.
Hope that helps.

Quartz gets sold as a “maintenance” free product. Heat, Scratch & Stain RESISTANT - Not Heat, Scratch & Stain Proof. Which you still need to bring your part and wipe up the countertops.

Selection wise there are a LOT of products available on the market today, LG, Cambria, Caesarstone, Compac, Silestone an so on. This gives the homeowner a wide range of choice. We still recommend you use a trivet.

Hard to beat the Beauty of Natural stone. Granite Countertops are not that hard to maintain. You can purchase a natural stone sealer from a big box store - you spray it on and you wipe off the excess…your granite will give you an indication when it is “thirsty” or needs to be resealed - it will leave water-spotting or darker marks around the sink area when it gets wet. You have the option these days to purchase a 15 year stone sealer - which might still be more affordable that some of the quartz options. Unlike Marble & The main difference between Marble and Granite - There are very few things that will scratch & etch granite (diamonds & another piece of unfinished granite will scratch it)

In my personal home I have Quartz, Marble & Granite and I understand and Appreciate them all for what they are!
