If you find a trustworthy landscaper, they can usually get you a great deal on your plants! Be honest and let them know you have been shopping around and found options for $xx.xx, they will most likely be able to work out a better deal with you.
Just like an auto mechanic - there will be a mark-up on the plants. If you intend to plant everything - then by all means get the plants yourself.
