Is it cheaper to build a two story home or rambler?
If you are talking about the same square footage of the house then the two story house will be cheaper to build because it is more compact. It requires less ground space and smaller lot size, less foundation, wiring, plumbing, heating, roofing, etc. Basically everything that spreads out requires more material versus when you build everything more compact and you save on using less of those materials.
Of course, the price will depend on what kind of interior materials you will use on any of these two options (flooring, tile, cabinets, vanities and etc.).
I would say its gonna depend on your inside recommendations. The two story to me is cheaper than cathedral heights on a one story. Also, you can add gables the size of the rooms for extended space. The answer relies on the square footage and materials.
Who would build a rambler style structure?
Strange question.
2 story is cheaper regardless of any options, less slab on grade per living space square foot. Period.
oddly enough, in Florida single story is cheaper. land is so cheap and subs charge more to go up rather than out
The higher you go the higher are prices
on a per sqft basis two story homes are generally cheaper
