I have a wall between kitchen and dining room that runs parallel to attic joists, and the joists skip over it. It is a one story ranch home but it looks like it has been built like a load bearing wall (stacked 2x4s at top) I’d like to think with nothing touching it in attic that it can’t be carrying a load?
The wall is not load bearing.
The wall could be stacked for more support to the wall upstairs. It was added to the design for a purpose,i cant be sure without seeing it.This could also be a resting area for the crossmembers on the roof.
I would not remove till I call the builder or add pictures here.
i do agree with Zachs. do not remove before you verify.
call someone who have experience!

Load Bearing or Non Load Bearing ~
If you are asking because you want to remove this wall so that you have an “open floor plan”, the answer is very simple. Have your Professional, Licensed Contractor assess. If it is a Load Bearing Wall, he will give you a proposed cost to remove existing walls and install and LVL. A LVL can be installed above your ceiling (depending on your existing structure) or can be installed across your ceiling then wrapped with plaster. Either way, this will open your living area giving you the open concept that your want and it also gives continuous support that is necessary.
If it is NOT a Load Bearing wall, it can simply be removed.
I recommend having the wall inspected to verify with a experienced structural contractor who can give you the best course of action so you dont run into any serious issues in the future.
