Most of our business comes from word-of-mouth, but what other methods of advertising have worked for you (mailers, flyers, internet ads, etc.)?
Word-of-mouth contributes some of our business but mostly marketing and reviews help us. We strive to be the most professional roofing company out there period. We will do whatever it takes to complete a quality job on time, at a fair price, and all with pristine communication between us and the homeowner.
We joined a Business Networking International (BNI) chapter for referrals. We are currently in two separate chapters, one in Watertown and one in Swampscott. So far this year alone BNI referrals account for 12% of our revenue. BNI has also been a good way to find trustworthy and reliable business partners to work with - like Real Estate Attorneys, Agents, Movers, Subs, etc. BNI is essentially a word-of-mouth approach in a more structured and measurable format.
we use internet and newspaper ads
Local phone books are a great way for older clients to see your business. Also yard signs on jobs so people can see yourelated jobs as they pass by.
The best way to get new business is always word-of-mouth. However, another way to build on that referral base is for us to put job signs in yards. We work in many residential communities where people are often out walking. Many people see our signs, and either follow up with us, or talk directly to the homeowner. It is a great way to reinforce word-of-mouth!
Nowadays we mostly purchase leads from the internet. advertising in magazines works really good as they are usually serious buyers. these methods help keep lead costs down.
