The home was built in 1890 but was gutted and renovated. The reno included a brand new roof BUT the contractor did not add any ridge or sofit vents. We are hoping to finish the larger of the two attics so ventilation is a necessary first step. Also, for general comfort in the home we would like it properly vented.
Depending on the structure of the home ridge vent is the way to go especially if it is a gable style roof these types of roofs are the best candidates for ridge vent, GAF just came out with a intake vent that works great with ridge vent and you install it before you roof. Also depending on cost of what you are wanting to spend and the style of roof you have there are plenty of options for ventilation like turbines, louvre vents etc. hope this helps.
