I do not have a property yet, but I am comparing between a new home and remodeling. I’m interested in learning how much each remodel would be, ex. bathroom remodel kitchen remodel rough estimates. How much would the house remodel be in the Seattle, WA area?
That’s like asking how much a car costs. But, given my understanding that costs are about the same in Seattle as in my market:
For painting, refinishing, and other light work, $20-$50 per square foot, so $20K to $50K for a 1000 square foot cottage.
For significant repair and refinishing, $100/sqft.
Full gut and quality remodel, including all new premium/semi-luxury kitchens and baths and equivalent finishes throughout, $400/sqft., when all the shouting is done.
How much is a car? $5K for a junker, $500K for something very special.
