im john szeles owner operator of szeles construction llc. ive done jobs that range from additions of 300 square ft. to additions of 3,000 square ft. to new homes. in my experience all of my customers main objectives and ideas about renovating were that they were able to gain exactly what they want and need vs. trying to find a finished home to purchase that would somewhat fit their needs and maybe some wants. im not a salesman that comes to your door, my hands get dirty everyday on the job, im a builder, a carpenter. i dont get involved with advising my clients with financial information, generally speaking. i do know that what my customers gain by renovating almost certainly cannot be matched in price comparison to purchasing a finished product of equivalence. at the end of the day, i personally, have never profitted by buying something finished, only by renovating. even with cost of labor and material, even if its close, you cant compare getting something youve made your own, to someone elses idea of …home.
