The spring season is often a good time to assess a roof, especially following a winter with heavy snow and weather. Do contractors have any tips for homeowners when determining if a roof will need to be repaired or replaced?

If there are no issues with the roof, nothing needs to be done.
As a roof ages, the cost/benefit should be examined. Think of it as an aging car that needs repairs. Pipe boot replacements are common quick repairs, but an older roof experiencing leaks might just be due for replacement.
Repairs are possible on an older roof if the shingles aren’t brittle, but the shingles will have aged and a color match probably isn’t likely. If the repair needs are on the front of the home, the visual impact often is the tipping point.
