We’re re-doing our exterior, but the budget is: spend as little as is responsibly possible. Our house faces a busy street and has poor insulation, so I don’t want to put in the cheapest windows available. That said, I won’t be in the house more than a few years and don’t want to spend too much, especially if the added funds won’t translate into the resale value of the home.
We prefer to work with brands like Mr. Glass or ECO. They both use Heat-Strengthened Impact Glass as a standard in all their products. This makes them a bit stronger than other brands like PGT and CGI, which use untreated annealed glass as a standard in most of their products. We recommend to ask if the product is using Heat-Strengthened Glass or Annealed Glass. You get more for your money.
We also like how Mr. Glass and Eco are made right here in South Florida. I hope this helps.

It depends on what part of the country you are in. If you are on the west coast I would recommend Value Windows and Doors or Anlin. On the east coast I would recommend TRACO.
I use Simonton windows every chance I get. Excellent warranty and the price is only slightly above Pella and Anderson replacement prices.
We use Cascade windows for our budget brand. When looking at the Simonton windows the Asure and 5050 are very closely priced. The Asure provides more glass and a larger view while the 5050 provides more vinyl material and better ratings (U-Factor, etc.). We are in the Rockies.
I would recommend checking out Sierra Pacific. They have a good warranty, great glass and overall are a great budget choice.
Simonton vinyl windows and doors are top quality and much more affordable than many other companies in the Bay Area. Hope this helps
