What are some suggested ways to manage online reviews for work not contracted?

How do you manage requests that do not turn into contracted work, but still result in online reviews.

Hello Jim,

We get many reviews from customers who do not turn into contracted work to simply vouch about their experience with their initial phone call or estimate appointment.
Great customer service is essential from the very start.

We have become very careful about any conversation for any inquiry. Getting to “No” fast is sometimes the best policy for our company. We are very skilled at recognizing a great new partner for the way we work. (We consider our clients to be partners in meeting mutual goals for the property in question).

We have similar situations where we did not end up taking on the project but received reviews. There’s no direct way to control if the person requesting leaves you a review but there’s a way to control what type of review is left. Getting directly to “No” might leave people feeling that they have been mistreated so what we do is refer other contractors that we know and are happy to get our referrals.
