the fewer change orders you make, the more your contractor will expedite your project… Contractors usually wanna finish the job just like you do, so they can move on to the next job and make more money. often when a gc feels that the costumer is taking their time, they will accept another job to do. which will make your job go even slower

Check their credentials
Pre construction meetings
Knowledge of home building process (average time to install flooring for 2,400 sq. ft. home)
Spec sheet- confirm all product choices and materials for installation
Sign spec sheet with Number of installation for each trade
Sign contract with specific detail for # of days to complete
Monitor drop days for material and install day(s) for trades
Make no changes during installation
Pray for good weather

In a custom home always allow for changes to be made by home owner. So when writing the contract always put in how long each change will take depending on size of the change. Tips are time of year, location and the kind of weather you are having for where you are building.
