I really depends on what your concept of hightech is. The building industry is continously implementing advances in technology.
The most visible way is to insall LED lighting which can be controled/installed for color and shape of light.
If you want to save money then Insulation, air seal and installation of an air exchange system and computer interface and control technology.
You may want to generate electricity and sell it back to you local utility.
Windows are another element, one size fits all is not the best use of windows. Depending on the orientation of the home you may want to allow heat to be allowed into the living space or reflected so low e coatings and gases between the layers of glass should be determined as to the intent.
