- cork or bamboo flooring
- LED or CFL lighting
- recycled paper insulation
Our company (Eco Tec Insulation) specializes in spray foam insulation, which is a lot more of a green product than using paper backed insulation of any kind. Also in the long run, it is 30-50% more energy efficient for the consumer!
But I agree with #1 & #2 from Next Step Building!
I get asked a lot about these green products and solutions in Los Angeles:
Bamboo flooring
Recycled glass products
Solar panels
Reclaimed wood siding
In West Hollywood, they are out to set a benchmark for the future of green building codes, and now require a percentage of your demolition debris to be recyclable.
Solar Paneling
Spray Foam
Reclaimed wood
Radiant Barrier Reflective Foil stapled/attached to the roof rafter face from soffit to peak or gable vent levels creates the chimney effect that cools the attic dramatically. Our R-15.97 foil keeps the soffit air contained between the rafters so the general attic area is better year-round! The heat in summer can saturate down through the home’s building materials, overworking the AC. A hot attic overworks the AC system if its mounted up there also. Done correctly, the winter cold soffit air doesn’t fill the general attic area, sucking the heat right out of the home! It’s a naturally green upgrade!
While remodeling is going on and walls are opened up, spray foam is the choice of “smart” homeowners. We buy our foam chemicals just prior to your job unlike larger companies who buy in bulk and store it in a warehouse for longer terms. Think of a paint can in a shed, it does NOT get better over time. We make the best foam!
