Remodeling the hall/foyer in my 3 story, 4 unit apartment building. What are the best flooring materials for this area? I’m worried carpet will get dirty, but that tile or other hard surfaces will be too noisy.
Carpet is the most cost efficient.
For a commercial application you might consider vinyl stair treads which would greatly outlast carpet. Depending on the type of facility however the industrial aesthetic of stair treads might not be a good fit. If it is an indoor stairwell and visual appeal is important you could use a luxury vinyl plank application with a rubber stair nosing which does not create an overwhelming amount of noise.
