What are the differences in permitting and licensing requirements between New York City and Hoboken?

Am currently a contractor in Hoboken. Some of my clients have been referring me to their friends in Manhattan. What factors should I consider before setting myself up to do work in New York?

I am currently a New Jersey licensed contractor that is also licensed in New York. I started my business in Manhattan and Brooklyn. New York is a different ball game then Hoboken. The biggest difference is New York construction is based off national code like New Jersey but New York has a supplement to National Code which changes a lot of national code building codes. New York is the most complex construction code in the country. Another difference is contractors are licensed and New Jersey contractors are only registered. Also In New York the contractor is responsible for the job (construction methods used, Etc.), In New Jersey the architect is responsible for the Job (construction methods used, Etc.).
