Someone that you will be able to talk too for the next couple months every single day. It needs to be someone that is calm. It needs to be someone with some type of style and knows different brands to give owner options.
A strong history and track record. Someone that is passionate about your vision and has the credentials to accomplish your vision.
From our understanding, A good general contractor is someone who is able to handle his workload. We have seen many customers call us after a bad experience with a contractor because they left the job, or did not clean up the site. There are so many things that make a contractor good and bad and you need to find someone you trust and feel confident with. They are the ones working on your dream home which is why we strive ourselves in making sure we have excellent customer service.

A contractor that is located in there area, one that is timely, todays contractor should have good reviews through out the internet, a state licens in the state they are working in.
A homeowner looks for a reliable contractor, a well experienced one with knowledge, license and someone that he will have a good communication with.
They want to see that the company has been around for a long time, has previous projects/work to show, located near them and has honest reviews to account for the company.
I am a female General Contractor in NYC and have been successfully managing our team for the past 22 years.
One of my main capacities is to make sure the projects run as smoothly as possible by taking on only a limited number of residential projects at a time but also by being intuitive, ethical and responsible. Trust, experience, communication & managing skills, manners - and a license! - are good indicators when looking for a Contractor. My company Room for Change strives to have a close and attentive relationship with our clients.
Hello and Happy 4th of July RoomforChangeNYC!
