I am a plumber who set up shop about a year ago. I have had great success running a Google Ad that lists our number and website, I budget about $350 a month on that add and it is a great return on investment for us. We generally get 2-3 calls per week as a result of it. We always ask callers how they found us so we have a really good idea if it is working for us. I have also had a few hits using Thumbtack, which is a pay per lead site that is free to create a profile on. It seems very similar to Home Advisor but without any fees or startup costs. You just buy credits to send information to customer requests. Thumbtack can be hit or miss, some people just seem to be shopping for prices out of curiosity, because we offer free quotes and still don’t always make contact with them, but the jobs I have gotten were big ones.
