What information do contractors want to see when considering a job lead?

Some standard lead gen sites provide:

	Description of project

	Budget

	Desired timeline

What are the other types of information that would help a contractor make a good, informed decision?

Clear communication, so everyone is on the same page from the start. Construction terms and layman terms can be misunderstood.

Reference photos are helpful.

It would be nice if potential customers would provide the following:

	Project location

	Description of the project

	Budget

	Project pictures

	Desired timeline

Do they have plans and/or specifications?

Have they made any finish material selections?

Good contact information i.e. email address and phone numbers

Are they really ready to start or are they just looking for cost estimates, how serious are they?

Of course, the more information you require a potential customer to provide, in an attempt to qualify them, the less likely they are to engage the system.

I hope this helps!

That COMPLETE PLANS and SPECIFICATIONS are available, so that all bidders are basing their proposals on the same exact set of criteria.

Client Budget.

What’s more imnportant to the client: QUALITY or COST.

I am currently using Home Advisor. We have had some leads many of them have been expensive and a total waste of time and effort. I paid $ 89. for a lead that was bid by 5 other contractors provided by Home Advisor.

Here are a couple of items I would like added and would like to know.

  1. How many contractors has the client contacted?

  2. How many estimates have they received?

  3. Has the lead been verified? I paid $ 59.00 for a lead where the lady filed out the information but never intended on getting calls from contractors. She was irritated after getting several calls.

  4. I would also like these sites to educate the potential client. How about teaching them what contractors need and expect? Wow I could go on.
