What is an owners representative and why would I hire one?

I am building a custom home and considering hiring an owners representative. After looking online it looks like the job scope is broad. What are the main things and owners rep can help with? How are they helpful?

If anyone has used one can you please describe your experience.

There are a few names for this buyers rep, owners rep, etc etc but all of them usually revolve around management of the job and verifying on your behalf that work was done correctly. Program management, project management, construction management all kind of fall to this category. If you hire a builder you take everything as facts that come from him but you are not the expert so hiring this person as your in between management helps insure the information is correct and that what work has been completed is approved by this third party. We do this work frequently and clients are extremely happy with it. Yes it does cost more money but also helps you with piece of mind knowing this guy is working directly for you instead of a bottom line. Hopefully this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions

It’s essentially a contractor but for your interests. If you are not familiar in this field, you can hire them to guide you throughout the process.

It’s like a real estate agent almost. They are somewhat of a support system. Be careful though because this job title comes with a lot of people who claim they’re qualified but not. If you are going to hire an owners representative make sure you’re paying for a qualified person who really has your best interests in mind… not their paycheck.
