What is the approximate percentage mark-up to replace a window with wood vs. vinyl framed windows?

I have many, many windows to replace of different sizes and am wondering about the rough difference in cost if I want to upgrade to wood.

Hi Mike,
As you have many windows, you have even more choices. There are products on the market that look identical to wood but are a cellular PVC. These products offer a rot free sill, sash and trim, they are not to be confused with vinyl. Vinyl cannot be painted, where the cellular PVC can. However, if you like the white color it comes, you don’t have to paint it. We have a wonderful product available to us on the east coast and they most likely are available to you as well, but they are Windsor, Legend Series. Great product and very good price point. The cellular PVC is slightly higher in cost than the wood, but not much and well worth the extra.
There are other companies that offer similar products. The thing I always tell my customers, I want to make sure the company is going to be around 10-20 years from now. Like you many customers have a lot of windows and will select to replace them over time. You want to make sure whatever brand you select will be around and they will still be offering the same products if you choose to go that route. There are companies such as Marvin, Anderson, Pella & Weather Shield that have stood the test of time. Those products will cost you more, but you can have faith they will be there when you’re ready.
