No. BM and SW are the best out there. Lots of other paints are mixed with a lot of “clay” and requires more coats of paint, which means more time. So, you’re really saving time and money by buying good, quality paint.
So here is just another opinion from a painting contractor based out of Brooklyn NY. I do shop with both Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore and they are both great and they are both different. What I like most about Benjamin Moore is that they have a product for literally every type of job you can think of from lower grade jobs to the high end and their Satin Impervo on doors and trim is completely unbeatable by far. The downside however is that every BM store is separately owned and operated meaning that if you build up a good relationship with a store and you get good pricing and service and then you bid on a job at the other end of town, the other store will treat you as if you are a one timer that is buying a gallon and never coming back when in fact you could be buying for 10k a week. With SW, once you are in one store you will always get the best service from all the stores and they deliver any order as long as you buy a few buckets and they will always send out your delivery from the closest store to your job site. On the other hand they have great products but BM does beat them - that’s when you have a choice between Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. Once other companies come into account like Behr, Glidden and those brands, I’d say that if you’re a home owner you’ll never see the difference and if you’re a contractor you learned on your 1st day not to touch those.
Well this is an interesting question. You will find that Consumer’s Report ranks Behr Marquee in the top 5. As far as BM and SW goes, yes they are.
We are from Southern California and love Dunn-Edwards Paints and SW.
Ive used several Paint brands and you can tell the difference between benjamin moore and other brands . benjamin moore tends to cover a lot better and the texture is different most of the other brands are spotty. I defiantly always play it safe and stick to benjamin moore I think there is no comparison
