What is the complete average cost to convert a tub to shower (tile, plumbing, etc.)

Many factors go into the price, but it has been our experience that average price is $3500.00

That would depend on the square footage and the fixtures and tiles picked out.

I have come behind many so called contractors who not only did a very poor plumbing job, but in some cases were down right dangerous.

Ideally, one would call in a licensed (master plumber) to do the plumbing, a licensed electrician if needed, and a tile man who has insurance.

If someone says they can do it all, I would run for the hills.

As an expert witness, I have testified in many cases where some “handyman” with no insurance or any type of formal training caused thousands of dollars in damages. In two cases, children were severely scalded because the handyman did not follow the local or federal guidelines.

Depends on many factors, such as:

  • the area you live in, as the cost of living is different
  • the fixtures and tiles you chose
  • if you hire a master plumber who is insured or some handyman who states they can do plumbing, tile work, and electric without the benefit of being licensed or having any formal training.
  • if the job requires a permit and relevant inspections also contribute to the cost increase and safety of the work

We have completed bathrooms in excess of $80,000 and some as low as $5,500.

We would charge $6,500 to: demo, blend new shower walls whether wedi, hardiboard etc into existing drywall, move plumbing or add plumbing, level floor, tile, finish shower base etc.
